This card is the Three of Hearts, which corresponds to the Three of Cups in the standard tarot. Here, Centeotl, the Young Lord of Maize, holds the hands of a man and a woman. His skin is golden, like the newly sprung corn, and two ears of maize sprout from his headdress. His gloves and boots are marked with the jewel glyph of costly and precious things, and they are also marked with the checked green pattern of the earth goddess, Tonantzin. The man and woman are both dressed in white, and adorned with costly jewels. They hold in their hands two bleeding hearts; a third hovers before the breast of Centeotl. They stand in an a sacred maize enclosure.
This card symbolizes love and harmony. Like the Two of Hearts, in which two individuals work together towards this end, here it is the community, the group, and also the spiritual as well as material, linked as one, which bring about happiness and prosperity for all. The man and the woman are smaller than the god, but it is they who till the earth and help his life-sustaining corn to grow, just as it is he who feeds and nourishes them. This is a card of balance, celebration, and abundance. It warns that work is needed to keep this balance, and asks the querent to remember their blessings, and to celebrate them.
