Diary ~ Drawing the Male Nude with Carlosl

I met a new model today for the first time; his name is Carlos, he's 27, Colombian, married, and with a three year old boy. He's very sweet. We had a great time drawing today. He had never modeled before, but he was very natural at it, striking great poses and holding them without moving. He had also never been naked alone in a room with another man before, other than his doctor (so he said), but he seemed comfortable and relaxed. I will certainly be using him again in the future. In fact, he is coming next Wednesday for a painting, all day.

The drawing above was the first one we did today; it came out great, and he marveled at how much it looked like him - he felt the face and back represented him exactly. Below is the second drawing, of him seated on the chair

The last drawing we did today was the foreshortened drawing below, while he relaxed in bed.

And here is a photograph of Carlos in the pose above. I only took a couple of photos of him from behind - he's not sure how he feels about photography yet, so I didn't want to push him, but he is very handsome, and I hope will be willing to let me shoot him, to share with you, and to contribute to my artmaking process. He'll be back soon, and hopefully regularly.
