Diary ~ Painting the male nude with Gabriel

March, 2006

 

Gabriel is a new model in my studio; I met him at a pool party with some friends. I go skinny-dipping every Friday night at a local pool we break into; our introduction was a game of chicken in which he was sitting on my shoulders nude. We won. Right afterwards we went to Wet Jock-Strap Night at the Rod; Gabriel joined the contest (I wasn't feeling it, which is unusual), and it must have been his night, because he won that too. It turned out that another of the contestants was Josh, another of my models, whom we ran into there! I asked Gabriel to model nude for me earlier that evening, and so he started coming by; More drawings of him will be posted soon. We've turned into good friends; he's charismatic, charming, and very smart. Below are the photos from our last painting session.

Below is Oscar during a break. I painted him wearing a white shirt and hat, which in the painting he was pretending to take off. In the photo above, you can see me working on a small drawing prior to starting the painting.
