Felix D'Eon Diary ~ 4th of July July, 2006 |

July 4th, 2006 My sister Rosali is still visiting (she leaves tomorrow), so I have
been fairly unproductive as far as art-making goes. But we have been
having tons of fun. We spent hours at the video arcade at the Metreon,
watched “The Devil Wears Prada,” which she loved, and
I felt ambivalent about, we went to the opera (she looked adorable
in her Givenchy gown, circa 1960, which my mother bought for her at
auction for her prom – she’s 17, and still in high school),
spent time shopping in the Haight, and generally have been having
a wonderful time. I absolutely had to get some work done though, so
I had my friend Jeremy come by this morning to model. He is not a
professional model, but a very old friend from New Orleans, who has
been working here for the past couple of years. He came by around
noon and we drew for a couple of hours. The drawing I made is below.
I hadn’t drawn him for a long time, so it was especially enjoyable.
Rosali drew him with me, and I gave her some art lessons, which is
something I did when Carlos was here as well. She is quite a talented
artist, and is thinking of pursuing it as a career (along with a dozen
other options)
Afterwards, we all went to a friends barbecue, and had a fairly typical fourth of July. All in all it was a wonderful day. The Photograph below is of Jeremy checking out some of the drawings in my studio during a break, that 4th of July morning.
